The Transylvanian Highlands have been integrated into the Danube Wood(s) Route. The new video produced by WWF-Romania highlights a region where nature and culture come together naturally. In addition, the area is featured in the official route web app and included in the European promotional film for the project.
By being part of this initiative, the local heritage is connected to a European network dedicated to the relationship between forests and communities. Danube Wood(s) Route develops a cultural route across the Danube region, bringing together territories where wood represents an identity and economic resource. The aim is to showcase built heritage centered on forests and to support local development models based on responsible wood use.
In the Transylvanian Highlands, scattered villages, traditional architecture and wooden elements integrated into everyday life reflect a rare cultural continuity. Here, wood becomes an expression of identity and of a balanced relationship with the landscape.
We invite you to watch the dedicated video for the region and discover how wood culture shapes local communities.
