SaveGREEN

Connectivity and HONEY

A healthy environment where both flora and fauna are protected and respected can benefit people. Honey is considered a symbolic product representing the connection between man and nature.
The fragmentation of the landscape and the presence of toxic substances that come with the development of grey infrastructure without considering the risks and without allowing the space for nature to thrive can harm ancient practices such as honey production.

Honey is also an important indicator of coexistence between humans and wildlife.
The importance of strategic collaboration with all representatives at national and local levels and the implementation of necessary measures to limit landscape fragmentation and achieve living in harmony with nature are supported by projects such as SaveGREEN.

The SaveGREEN project focuses on ecological corridors in the Carpathian Mountains and in the Danube region.

HOW DO WE SUPPORT PEOPLE IN PILOT AREAS, IN ECOLOGICAL CORRIDORS?

We all depend on grey infrastructure such as railways, roads, power plants, power lines, but green infrastructure (ecological corridors) can be even more important.  It provides us with the biological diversity we need to combat the effects of the climate emergency and live in a healthy environment in harmony with nature.

The SaveGREEN project enhances transdisciplinary cooperation between nature conservation, natural resource management, transport, spatial planning, large-scale agriculture, and small-scale local producers to identify, collect and promote the best solutions to protect ecological corridors.

With the support of prevention tactics and coexistence with wild animals, small producers become closer to wild nature and understand the importance of green infrastructure for their business and their lives.

HONEY FROM THE ARAD – DEVA PILOT AREA

Bees are traditionally kept in the Zarand Mountains by beekeepers who show respect for both the bee and the environment.

Whether it is polyfloral honey, acacia honey, or linden honey, it is produced following the local specificities in a sustainable manner.

The honey in this jar is the fruit of careful work, patience and love for nature.
