Youth & Education for Sustainable Development Junior Officer

The Youth & Education for Sustainable Development Junior Officer helps WWF-Romania engage and inspire children and young people to take action for nature, climate, and sustainability.
Working closely with project managers and the Monitoring & Evaluation team, the role supports environmental education, youth engagement, and community activities across WWF projects. Through workshops, learning opportunities, and participatory initiatives, the position helps young people develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become active contributors to a more sustainable future.
The Youth & Education for Sustainable Development Junior Officer supports education and youth engagement activities across WWF-Romania projects, working with schools, teachers, young people, volunteers, and partners to organize activities, develop learning materials, monitor progress, and contribute to project reporting and impact.

Your duties will include:
• Support the delivery of youth engagement and environmental education activities across WWF projects.
• Facilitate workshops, campaigns, and interactive learning sessions on nature, climate, and sustainable living.
• Help develop educational resources, learning materials, and awareness-raising content.
• Support and engage youth networks, volunteers, project ambassadors, and biodiversity and climate initiatives.
• Contribute to the planning and delivery of online and offline campaigns, events, and community activities.
• Help organize youth events, training sessions, stakeholder meetings, and public dialogue activities.
• Collect feedback and contribute to measuring the impact of youth and education activities.
• Support project reporting and help track progress against project goals and indicators.
• Participate in national and international meetings, training, webinars, and project events.
• Encourage and support youth participation in environmental initiatives and public engagement activities.
• Collaborate with WWF colleagues and partners to ensure high-quality project delivery and communication.

Knowledge:

• University degree in a relevant field such as environmental studies, sustainability, education, social sciences, communications, or related areas.
• Knowledge of non-formal education methods is a plus.
• Youth work certification or training facilitation experience is a plus.

Experience:

 At least 2 years of relevant experience through work, volunteering, internships, or student initiatives related to youth engagement, education, sustainability, or community projects.
 Hands-on experience working with young people, volunteers, or environmental education initiatives is considered an advantage.
 Experience in working with schools, teachers, young people, or volunteers is a plus.
 Experience in supporting projects, events, workshops, or campaigns is a plus.
 Exposure to projects funded by public or European programs is a plus

Skills and Abilities:

· Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Confidence in facilitating discussions, workshops, or group activities with young people.
· Interest in environmental, climate, and sustainability topics.
· Ability to engage and collaborate with young people, volunteers, and community members.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to create and adapt educational or awareness-raising materials.
· Enthusiasm for supporting and motivating young people to get involved and take action.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Proactive, creative, and solution-oriented approach.
· Good planning and time-management skills, with the ability to manage several tasks and meet deadlines.
· Interest in WWF’s conservation mission and environmental priorities.
· Good to Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with graphic design software (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is considered an advantage.
