Project Manager

Project-Based -14 months, full-time position

The Bioenergy Project Manager contributes to WWF mission in general and WWF´s objectives in Romania and Central and Eastern Europe in particular by managing and implementing bioenergy project components (with a focus on forest biomass, mitigation/decarbonization) and by engaging in policy-advocacy and campaign efforts, as well as fundraising. The Bioenergy Project Manager also represents WWF-Romania on related issues within the WWF network and externally, in particular intending to develop partnerships to support the WWF-Romania bioenergy lobby and advocacy work.

Your duties will include:

A. Strategy and Work plan input and implementation

•Coordinating the implementation of strategic actions of WWF-Romania related to the implementation of relevant bioenergy policy-advocacy actions and bioenergy projects, in line with the WWF network (national, regional, EU, international) approach
•Monitoring and analyzing drivers of and trends in the field of bioenergy policy, sources, and technology and identifying opportunities for advocacy strategies
•Contributing with the knowledge to strategies and initiatives of WWF-Central and Eastern Europe, of which WWF-Romania is part.

B. Fundraising and project development

•Contributing to the identification of future fundraising opportunities and development of funding proposals.

C. Project management and implementation

•Ensuring project management for the European Climate Foundation grant on Biomass, responsible for timely and efficient overall technical implementation, engaging relevant internal and external expertise
•Ensuring proper and timely implementation of the bioenergy policy-advocacy components in other projects in which she/he is involved
•Identifying the need for additional external expertise in the field of bioenergy and drafting respective Job Descriptions

D. Advocacy, Partnership Development, and Networking

•Representing the organization in relevant forums such as conferences, symposiums, and government and community meetings to advocate for improved policy and decision-making, communicate and promote our work on bioenergy
•Supporting the development of common policy and advocacy briefs, position papers, and legal initiatives having a bioenergy component
•Advising role for the general director and national C&E Manager on bioenergy issues
•Supporting development and implementation of advocacy strategies, including engagement with governmental and private sector institutions
•Supporting partnership development with other relevant Civil Society Organizations and private investors
•Liaising with scientists and scientific institutions and networks for knowledge transfer and partnership development.

E. Capacity building and knowledge management

•Supporting WWF-Romania´s capacity-building efforts on Bioenergy issues, including through contribution to project proposals and the design of relevant training programs and events.
•Analyzing trends and opportunities in the field of Bioenergy, including innovation, relevant to WWF’s mission and work and relay this information to relevant team members
•Supervising relevant volunteers such as master students.
•Contribute to the development and implementation of integrated advocacy and information campaigns.

We expect from you:

Knowledge:

•University degree in energy, forestry, engineering, environmental studies, or other field related to Bioenergy
•Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of sustainability and environmental issues in Romania and its regional context
•Knowledge of relevant national and or EU policies in areas of Renewable Energy, Biomass, Forestry, and Climate would be an asset
•Knowledge of the challenges facing the Romanian energy and forestry sectors
•Excellent command of written and spoken Romanian and English
•Computer literacy

Experience:

•At least 4 years of relevant work experience
•Engaging with diverse stakeholders such as government officials or the scientific community
•Experience in policy analysis
•Experience in project cycle management is an asset
•Working within diverse teams in an international working environment is an asset
